"I will not leave you as orphans..." - John 14:18

Our Story

We're adopting from Ethiopia!!
We are so excited, and can't wait until we have our little one(s) in our arms!  So who are we?  We're a family who is not yet complete.  We're a family who feels called to share our love with an orphaned child and love him or her as our own.  And most importantly, we're a family who loves and believes in Jesus as our Savior.

A bit about our family...We live in Reno, NV.  Travis works as a project manager for a large construction company here in town, and I stay home with our girls.  What a blessing!  We are also blessed with an amazingly supportive family, on both sides, as well as the best friends we could ever hope or ask for!  Truly, I cannot say enough about our support system!  Our parents are both excited and supportive of our adoption, which isn't always the case, so we are really thankful.

As you can see from the picture above, we have two biological daughters - Ella, who is 6 and Avery, who is 4.  They are just as excited about our adoption as Travis and I are.  In fact, they frequently ask when we "get to have our baby," and they continually talk about what we can get for our baby (usually involves a stuffed animal "lovie"), what we can do with our baby, how they can help with our baby, and much more.  Additionally, they often say that we should adopt "lots of babies."  I think Ella has suggested 8 or 9, while Avery has recommended that we adopt 39 babies.  A bit unrealistic, but cute nonetheless!  In reality, however, we have determined that we would accept either one child or twins under the age of one year at the time a referral, and it usually takes about 4-6 months from referral until we're able to bring him/her/them home.
This adoption has been an amazing journey.  We began our paperwork back in September of 2010, and at that time, our agency estimated that the process from start to finish would take about one to two years, so we're on our way!  We have learned so much and have grown in our faith more than we can express throughout our journey thus far, and I'm sure that will only continue!
So here we go...the journey continues!  If you'd like to follow us on our journey, be sure to subscribe to receive all new posts directly into your inbox.  The email subscription field is found at the top of the right hand column of this blog.
